News24 has learned that Netflix has given the green light to a film about the life of a serial killer on the internet, which will star Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, and the rest of the cast.
The film, called The Killing, was first released in March and stars Tom Haggard, Milla Jovovich, Michael Cera, James McAvoy, Jason Statham, and a whole host of other notable actors.
It is set in an alternate timeline where the internet has been invented, allowing users to send and receive instant messages, watch films, and listen to music through a virtual headset.
It will also feature footage from the Netflix series.
Netflix’s decision to green light the film follows a string of recent high profile projects that have included a film based on the life and death of a British politician and a movie about the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.
Netflix has not yet commented on the film.
In 2015, the film was given a theatrical release in the US and Europe, but was later pulled from Netflix’s library.
Netflix later announced it was going to cancel the film in 2021.
The Killing, which was originally slated to hit Netflix in 2021, is now slated for a 2019 release.
